Alpine Glory

Well, it's been some time since the last post and I think it's about time for a bit of catching up. What an interesting winter so far - my first in the UK since 1998. Living next to the peaks has its upsides when the snow is falling and the ground crisp underfoot. Blue skies have been rare however, and I'm still waiting for Spring to peak it's head around the corner.

4 of us went away over new year to Areches, a beautiful little French resort in the Beaufort Region of the Alps - my criteria was to stay in a quiet, reasonably priced resort where we would hear no other English voices but our own. You can imagine our disappointment when we heard one English family in resort over the whole week...

As January started ticking along I couldn't help myself and felt a sneaky little weekend back in the area was in order. We stayed at one of the most amazing spots in the alps - a group of three little "mazots" near the top of the resort of Crest-Voland. As to how and why, let's put it this way, it's not what you know.....

This was our sleeping accomodation - picture perfect and as close to the pistes as you can get. As you can see, the trees were smothered in a glistening blanket of snow and powder runs were the order of the day!

The resort sits under the shadow of two beautiful mountains, Mont Blanc (see earlier post in September!) and this, Mont Charvin, the most beautiful mountain in the Alps (according to a reliable source...) A great time in an awesome spot.

A Great Big thanks to the wonderful Bianco family for an amazing weekend and see you again soon!!

And now back to the peaks.....
