Bonny Scotland

And bonny it was indeed - when heading north of the border for 5 days in November I'd usually expect at least a few days of rain and wind and typical autumn weather. Nope. None of the above. Mirrored lochs, mountains glowing in autumn colours, what more could you ask for (apart from another week of the same!)

As the sun sets on a wonderful trip, I'm back in the peaks watching autumn disappear as winter creeps back in to take over for a few months.

I'm going to be in the UK this winter for the first time since 1998. That's a long time, and I'm nervously excited to spend time here and see what it has to offer. Short, wet and cold days yes, but with that comes moody skies, beautiful light, heavy frosts and snow. It will make a change from the Antarctic to say the least.

Don't worry, I'm sure I'll manage to escape a little, you can't teach an old dog new tricks....
